This is a key point, because to draw on God's
salvation one must have His Lamb upon His altar. Jehovah's Witnesses
have a counterfeit lamb on - as you will see below - a counterfeit
altar.
Jehovah's Witnesses hate the cross of
Christ They claim that Jesus was hung on a torture pole, and not
on a cross. (see left)
Their 'proof scripture' is John 3:14 which
states 'Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the son of man
must be lifted up, that everyone who believes in Him may have everlasting life'
They claim that the cross is a satanic symbol and command any
new members to not only dispose of, but destroy any cross they might have.
They claim that Jesus had one nail driven through His hands stretched up above His head
and one nail driven through His feet, and so hung on a stake, and not a cross.
The Greek word that is translated <stauros> can be used for
both a pole or a cross. Strong's Greek states.. ' a stake or post (as set upright), i.e. (specially),
a pole or cross (as an instrument of capital punishment); figuratively, exposure to death,
So which was it? A cross or a pole?
The Old Testament altar was the 'shadow' or 'type' for the altar that the Lamb of God
would be laid upon as a once for all time sacrifice. It was Moses who received the
Divine pattern.
''Moses was divinely instructed when he was about to make the
tabernacle. For He said, "See that you make all things according to the
pattern shown you on the mountain". Hebrews 8:5
Moses was given the exact pattern for every sacred item on the mountain top by God
Himself. Everything was described in great detail, and had to be built in great
detail, and used in great detail, otherwise it would not be acceptable. These details all
pointed forward to the amazing sacrifice of Christ, the Lamb without blemish. The
acceptable Lamb on the acceptable altar at Calvary.
"You shall make an altar of acacia wood, 5 cubits long by 5 cubits
wide - the altar shall be square- and its height shall be 3 cubits. You shall make its
horns on its four corners; its horns shal be of one peice with it. And you shall overlay
it with bronze" Exodus 27: 1-2
Altar was to be made of wood. - Exodus 27 verse 1
The cross was made of wood. But so would a torture stake be.
Altar was to be four pointed - Exodus 27 verses 1 & 2
The cross had the four points. A stake, or pole has but two.
Blood was to be placed on all four points of the altar. - Exodus 29 verse 12 a
When Jesus was laid upon the cross on the ground blood from His head, His hands on either
side, and His feet, put His blood on the four points of the altar. Only two would be
possible with
a pole.
Blood was to be thrown on all sides of the altar. - Leviticus 5:9
When Jesus was laid upon the cross on the ground the blood from His head, His hands on
either side, and His feet, would run down all four sides of the altar.
Rest of
blood to be poured out at the base of the altar.-Exodus 29 verse 12 b
When the cross was finally 'lifted up' and dropped into its upright position for all to
see (Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the son of
man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes in Him may have everlasting life John
3:14) then the rest of the Lambs blood would pour on to the base of the
altar.
Blood was to be sprinkled against the side of the altar - Leviticus 5:9
As Jesus was held up for all to see, His side was pierced, as was prophesied
in
Zechariah 12:10 and fulfilled in John 19:34 and so His blood was sprinkled against the
side of the altar, as per the divine pattern given to Moses on the mountain top.
The Altar
of Incense that was a sweet fragrance before God was also
specified as being a four 'horned' altar.
Exodus 30
verses 1 & 7 & 10
According to the divine pattern - given by God to Moses - if an
altar does not have four 'blood points' it can be instantly understood to be a counterfeit
altar. See below how only the cross fits the divine pattern established so often in the
Old Testament
God's Divine pattern is the four horned square altar
The Lamb's blood applied to the four points
The blood applied to the four points of the altar
Finally the Lamb on the altar lifted up for all to
see - just as Moses lifted up the brazen serpent for all to see and be healed.
The number four is important in
scripture. It speaks of universality. Four winds (Ezekiel 37:9)
Four corners of the earth (Isaiah 11:12) Four Horsemen of the
Apocalypse (Revelation 6:6) etc.
Only the pattern of the cross fits God's
Divine pattern for His altar.
Even the lamb's blood that was put on the doors of the
Israelites homes in Egypt on Passover night prefigures the cross..
space
'And they shall take some of the blood and put it
on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses where they eat
it'
'Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are.
And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall
not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of
Egypt'. Exodus 12: 7&13
God's order always makes a statement. Israel had twelve tribes
and when they encamped around the tabernacle in the wilderness there was a very definate
order layed out for them.
On the NORTH side of the Tabernacle - under the standard of the Eagle - were positioned
the three tribes of Dan, Asher and Naphtali (Numbers 2:25-31) These tribes totalled
157,000
On the WEST side of the tabernacle - under the standard of the Ox - were the three
tribes of Ephraim, Mannasseh and Benjamin (Numbers 2:18-24 These tribes totalled
108,000
On the SOUTH side of the tabernacle under the standard of the Man were positioned the
three tribes of Rueben, Simeon and Gad (Numbers 2:10-16) These tribes totalled
151,450
On the EAST side of the tabernacle - under the standard of the Lion - were positioned
the Tribes of Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun Numbers 2:3-9 These tribes totalled
186,00
Note: God's tabernacle always faced to the west
157,000
151,450
This is known as the Revelation of the "Cross"
in the arrangement of the camp
When lifted up with the West side facing towards heaven the proportions
look something like this
When God set His Presence right at the heart of this Cross in the
wilderness it is not too hard to see what He was saying to us.
Jesus referred twice to the nails in His hands. - John 20 verse 25 Whereas the 'Jesus' hanging on
the Jehovah's Witnesses 'torture stake' only has one nail for his hands
Jesus foretold Peters crucifixion in detail with hands
outstretched - John 21 verse 18
The best known code was the use of the fish symbol with the Greek spelling of fish
'ICHTHYS' standing for the truth code of "Jesus
Christ, Son of God, Saviour"
However the early Christians had an even more elaborate game.
This square of letters has been found in several places, including Pompeii in Italy
and even far away Cirencester in England. It appears to be meaningless, but a little
re-arrangement will work wonders. "I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the
ending, saith the Lord" If we remove A and O twice over, we are left with a
group of letters which can be re-organised to spell Pater Noster, Our Father, also twice
over and in the shape of a cross. So the answer, for those in the know, is..
(Extract from Bamber Gasgoigne's (non-
Christian) book 'The Christians')
Note: Sator
means 'a sower' Arepo is a man's name Tenet
means 'he holds' Opera means 'work'or 'deeds'
Rotas means 'wheels, so the most sense that outsiders
could make out of the puzzle would be the meaningless sentence: 'The
sower, Arepo, guides the wheels carefully'
The Roman historian Tacitus wrote of how they used crosses to kill
followers of Jesus.
A rumour was going round Rome that Nero had been responsible for the great
fire which blazed through Rome in 64. The Roman historian described how he diverted
attention away from himself.
To be rid of this rumour, Nero fastened the guilt on a class hated for their
abominations, called Christians by the populace. Mockery of every sort was added to their
deaths. Covered with the skins of beasts they were torn by dogs and perished; or were
nailed to crosses; or were doomed to the flames. Nero threw open his garden for the
spectacle and exhibited a show in the circus"
These three photograghs are from Justus Lipsius' book ' De Cruse
Liber Primus & De Cruse Liber Secundus'
On page 1156 of The Kingdom Interlinear Translation of the Greek Scriptures Photogragh
number 1 only is shown. On page 1155 The President of Jehovah's Witnesses
says " Such a single stake for implement of a criminal was called crux simplex, and
the method of nailing him to such an instrument of torture is illustrated by the Roman
Catholic scholar, Justus Lipsius, of the 16th century. We present herewith a photographic
copy of his illustration on page 647, column 2, of his book De Cruse Liber Primus. This is
the manner in which Jesus was impaled".
The truth is that on page 46
Justus
Lipsius says, "In the Lord's cross there were four pieces of wood, the upright beam,
the crossbar, the piece of wood placed below (for the feet) and the title inscription
placed above " (Photos 2 & 3 is the Lord's cross according to Lipsius) Justus
further states, "When a man, hands stretched out, worships God with a
pure heart he
resembles a cross"
According to Justus Lipsius Jesus was NOT nailed to an upright stake, but on a cross.
Lipsius documents his research by quoting many of the early church fathers. The President
of Jehovah's Witnesses is an enemy of the cross and blatantly lied about what Justus
Lipsius said about the cross.
On a wall in a schoolroom in Rome during the 2nd century a schoolboy scratched a piece of mocking graffiti showing a boy worshipping a man with a donkey's head being crucified on a cross.
The crude inscription below reads "Alexamenos worships god"
The historian Tacitus claimed that the Jews worshipped at a shrine where they had the statue of an ass and this derogatory lie attached itself to Christians. (Kingdom of fools; Nick Page, p1, Hodderfaith)
A heathen insulting one of the very early Christians only served
God's purposes. Even His enemies were confirming the cross.
Prior to the crucifixion the cross was indeed a satanic symbol.
Even in Ireland, in County Cavan I believe, human sacrifices were made to Molech inside
wicker crosses set on fire.
But ever since Calvary, when satan had Jesus on one of his crosses of humiliation and
death, and it could not hold Him, he has a hatred for the symbol of his own defeat.
In satanic ceremonies the world over the cross is now hung upside down, or twisted out of
shape into a swastika, and its twisted variations appear in many forms such as the
ban the bomb symbol to the right wing Afrikaner symbol. Rock stars into satanism paint the
cross upside down on their foreheads. It is satans attempt to reject the
Christians victory symbol.
It will never appear in its upright form in any satanic ceremony.
Jesus said, If I be lifted up I will draw all men on to Me.
They will in no way lift up the cross.
No where in the enemy camp will you find then trying to blaspheme a pole, or twist a pole
out of its true shape. Nor will you find satanists praying against Muslims or Buddhists.
Their hatred is for Christ and the cross.
Jesus went to the satanic cross, where satans victims-that is man, created in
Gods own image- were continually being flaunted before God Himself, and before all
his own heavenly powers of wickedness, before death, and before men and women on the
earth, until death, His final and ultimate weapon over mankind, finally embraced them.
Just as we read in the Old Testament, where God used the goat and the serpent as a symbol
of release for Israel, so in Colossians we read how God took the cross and used it as a
symbol of release for us.
In Colossians we read read that.. God, having forgiven us all our trespasses, having
cancelled the bond which stood against us with its legal demands, this He set aside,
nailing it to the cross. He disarmed the principalities and powers and made a public
example, (or a public spectacle) of them, triumphing over them in Him. - Colossians
